  1. Baker, Barker, Bickel ISChapter 10 Presented by: Group D Wesley Ortiz, Michael Bury, David Nguyen and Kurt Cannarella

  2. For alternatives 1-3, which system methodology applies to each ? • For numbers 1 and 2 SDLC (Systems Development Life Cycle) applies to these alternatives because they would be based on a system (email) that has already been established. • RAD (Rapid Application Development) and OOD (Object Oriented Development) apply to scenario 3 since it is based on a customized program based on the needs of the partners organization.

  3. Systems Development Life Cycle

  4. Customized for the users The design is broken up into smaller chunks instead of building the system all at once Rapid Application Development

  5. It uses the Unified Modeling Language (UML), a series of diagramming techniques that are pre-written. Object Oriented Development

  6. Have property info easily available and inserted Have scheduling/cost options available From info given during phase 1 plan accordingly Compare Alternative 1 to Phase one of SDLC

  7. Steps required for alternative 2 • Firstly, Baker Barker and Bickel must define their goals and what they hope to accomplish • -In this case being achieving a competitive advantage and solving their customer problem • Secondly, they must eliminate non-sensible projects • -Such as the cost limitations of developing the system. • -What is the schedule or time frame they hope to have the system completed. • -Whether the system would be legally achievable.

  8. Steps required for alternative 2(continued) • Personnel Needed: • -Systems Analyst who understands both Business and Technology related fields. • Design Stage • -Program Design would be used because they're choosing to utilize “off-the-shelf” licensed software already existing. • System Testing • -Use a Test Plan in which the users will use every line of program code to test for errors.

  9. Steps required for alternative 3-Using (SDLC) • Personnel Needed • -Systems Analyst • -Database Designer because entirely new system is being constructed. • Design Stage • -The developers are constructing a database thus they would convert the data model to a “Database Design” • The Database would undergo a rigorous “Test Plan” to uncover any errors. • Then move onto a “Phased Installation” to be sure that each portion of the program is operation correctly.

  10. Difference between SDLC and RAD for Alternative 3 • Prefer to use a mix of both system types • The email system is already established and easy to use • RAD provides small amount of customization • Caters to the use of the business using different applications not available in e-mail

  11. 12. Stay productive anywhere, online or offline • Update team information in the office, at a customer site, on the road, and from home. • All Groove workspaces, tools, and information are stored right on your computer. • Work productively anywhere you’ve got your laptop, whether you’re connected to a network or not. • Automatic synchronization keeps you and your team members up to date.

  13. Streamline content creation • Share, revise, and publish files all from a single workspace. • Exchange document changes with your team members easily and efficiently. • Use integrated alerts and contextual communication tools to shorten review cycles. • Publish completed documents to SharePoint document libraries with one click for workflow, storage, and retrieval.
