  2. Portugal: Portugal is located on the western coast of the Iberian Peninsula and plateau, that divides the inland Mediterranean Sea from the Atlantic Ocean. It is located on the Atlantic coast of this plateau, and crossed by several rivers which have their origin in Spain. Most of these rivers flow from east to west disgorging in the Atlantic; from north to south, the primary rivers are the Minho, Douro, Tejo and the Guadiana. Mondego and Sado are two Portuguese rivers which have their origin in Portugal, the first in Serra da Estrela, our highest mountain and Sado, the only river that flows from South to North.

  7. Vouzela Vouga Alfusqueiro Zela Vouzela has many watercourses. Some of the most interesting are: Vouga, Alfusqueiro, Teixeira and Zela.

  8. Vouga River The Vouga river has its origin in the hills of Lapa, at 930m of altitude, and, after a journey of 136 km, it flows into the Atlantic Ocean, through a delta called "Ria de Aveiro". It is called by many as the "Portuguese Nile”. Basin area - 3700 km2, in a total of 148 km in length.

  10. River Alfusqueiro The Alfusqueiro has its origin in the mountain of Caramulo, in the county of Vouzela. It flows through Cambra, Campia, Destriz and Préstimo and it flows into the Águeda river, after crossing the municipalities of Vouzela, Oliveira de Frades, Sever do Vouga and Águeda. It has a full length of 49 km and in the watercourse we can also find the Dam of Cercosa. Along the watercourse, are frequently organized outdoor activities, like canyoning, among others.

  11. Teixeira River • It is a small portuguese river with 13,2 km which has its origin in S. Pedro do Sul and it flows into Couto de Esteves. • Along the watercourse, are frequently organized outdoor activities, like canyoning, among others. • This river has a beach called Praia do Vau known for being the second best in Europe in terms of water quality. In the same watercourse we can also find the Carriça river beach.

  12. Zela River • The river has its origin in the small village of Adsamo, 986 meters above the sea level, it flows north, through Ventosa, passing west of Vouzela, and flows into the left bank of the Vouga river, after a journey of 10 kilometers.
