  2. 2003 Guidelines for Instruction Programs in Academic Libraries -ACRL • Employ active learning strategies and techniques that require learners to develop critical thinking skills in concert with information literacy skills • With various learners more than one mode of instruction should be used.

Learning StylesSource: First Steps Towards Understanding the Net • Collaborative: comfortable working in teams • Achievement oriented • Believe in merit-based systems • Impatient: tune out if not interested • Communicate through social networks • Non-linear: visual literacy, multi-media literacy

  4. Why Use Games? • They are fun!!! • They can lower anxiety which can help with input • The use of games involve learning opportunities at several levels • Self-assessment and Instant Feedback! • Generate good library public relations

  5. When and How To Use in Games in Your Presentations • Use games to enhance learning and motivate students • Use at any stage of the lesson when appropriate • Prizes (Candy, High-Lighters, Sharpies, etc.)

  7. Why Use Theatrics? • Make teaching more enjoyable • Draws attention to you and the topic being covered • Increase retention • Make learning more enjoyable
