RAC Region 4 Meeting Overview: New Members, Accomplishments, and Future Goals

The RAC Region 4 meeting, chaired by Coco Briseno and vice-chaired by Ken Chambers, brought together representatives from 15 states, including Alaska, California, and Texas. New members Carolyn Morehouse, Jean Nehme, and Wayne Kawahara participated for the first time alongside established members. Key discussions focused on the value of research, advancements in transportation knowledge networks, and the regional goals to enhance high-value research participation. Accomplishments include the validation of tsunami guidelines and participation in the Western Road Usage Charging Consortium.

RAC 4 Accomplishments • Region 4 inspired the Domestic Scan on Knowledge Management (Utah) and Chaired it (Arizona) • WRUCC (Western Road Usage Charging Consortium Transportation Pooled Fund) • Validation of Tsunami Guidelines for Coastal Bridges (Hawaii; California; Oregon; Alaska; Washington)

  8. RAC 4 Goals • Increase number of states submitting High Value Research AND total number of projects. • Participate in Ahead of the Curve as products become available. • Distribute timely and valuable information to our members. • Generate better participation in monthly teleconferences.

  9. RAC 4 Goals • Transfer of knowledge from National findings to State DOT target areas. • More focus on implementation and the Research role. • Coordinate State research programming cycles for project collaboration. • Survive the 2015 RAC/TRB Annual Meeting in Portland, Oregon!!
