  2. Aerospace Engineering • Definition: Branch of engineering behind the design, construction and science of aircraft and spacecraft. Broken into two major branches: aeronautical and astronautical engineering. • Required training: Beginning aerospace engineers need at least a bachelor's degree in engineering. Degree holders in mathematics or the natural sciences may qualify for certain jobs. It usually takes four or five years to earn a bachelor's degree in engineering. • Salary: Median—$79,100 per year

Biomedical Engineering • Definition: application of engineering principles and techniques to problems in medicine and biology, as the design and production of artificial limbs and organs. • Required training: A bachelor's degree is the first step for engineers because most careers in the field require the degree as an entry level requirement.
