  1. Night By: Elie Wiesel

  2. Elie Wiesel lived in a town called Sighet. This was in Europe. He was Jewish. He lived with his mom, dad, and two sisters. He liked learning about his religion.. It was 1941 and there was a war, World War 2. The German soldiers, called Nazis, believed that Jewish people were wrong. They wanted to kill Jewish People because of what they believed in.

  3. The town of Sighet was invaded by German soldiers. They made the Eli and his family wear a yellow star that said they were Jewish. The soldiers made all of the Jewish people in the town move to a ghetto. A ghetto is a small place where many families lived together without much food or belongings. This made Elie and his family very sad.

  4. After a week, the families were told to get into a train car. They did not know where the train was going. 80 people were put into a train car with no food, water, or bathroom. The people were very scared. Elie was trying to stay close to his family.

  5. The train finally stopped. They were at a concentration camp. There were thousands of Jewish people there. Women had to go to one building and men had to go to a different building. Elie was separated from his mom and sisters. He got to stay with his dad. Elie and his Dad were prisoners at the concentration camp. Many people had already died at the concentration camp.

  6. The German soldiers watched the Jewish people. They were looking for people who were strong to work for them. If the prisoners were not strong, the Nazi soldiers killed them. Elieand his Dad got to stay together. At the concentration camp, it was sad. Many people had died there because it was cold and they had no food.

  7. Elie and his Dad had to wear a uniform. The prisoners had to march to a different concentration camp. It was called Buna. It was very cold and there was snow. At the camp, they had to work 12 hours a day. The only thing they ate was coffee, bread, and soup.

  8. The soldiers got angry at the prisoners in the concentration camp. They would sometimes hit them for no reason. One day, Elie’s Dad got hit. Elie was very sad. Even when his dad got hit, they had to work all day.

  9. There was a war going on. The Nazi soldiers were going to lose. One day, they were working. Many planes flew over the camp. The camp was bombed by American soldiers trying to help the prisoners. Elie hurt his foot and had to have surgery.

  10. The Nazi soldiers made the workers leave the camp. Elie and his Dad had to run 44 miles through the snow at Night. It was very cold and they were very tired. Elies foot hurt. The workers finally stopped at a new concentration camp. Elie was sad that God made him so upset.

  11. At the new camp called Buchenwold, Elie’s Dad became very sick. For two weeks, Elie had to work, and his Dad had to stay in a hospital building. His Dad wanted food and water, but there was none. A Nazi soldier hit Elie’s Dad in the head. Elie’s Dad died January 28, 1945.

  12. Elie lived at the concentration camp until April 11, 1945. The American soldiers came to save the prisoners. Elie was free from the camp. He never saw his mother, sisters, or Dad again. It was very sad.

  13. He was upset with the Nazi soldiers for hurting his family and Jewish people. He wrote the story so that people will remember the sad times in the holocaust.
