  3. AIHA - Parent Parent AIHA • Founded in 1939 • Over 12,500 members from the occupational health and safety community across the world • Headquarters in Fairfax, Virginia www.aiha.org

AIHA - Parent Mission AIHA promotes, protects, and enhances industrial hygienists and other occupational health, safety and environmental professionals in their efforts to improve the health and well being of workers, the community, and the environment. Vision A recognized worldwide leader in promoting excellence occupational and environmental health and safety.

  5. AIHA - Parent Recent Priorities • Promote the value of the profession • Partner with allied organizations e.g. American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) • International outreach • Enhance/develop products and services to meet member needs • Promoting value of the organization to students

  6. AIHA – Local Sections Local Sections • 104 local sections • 99 in the U.S. • 1 in the Arabian Gulf • 4 in Canada: • BC-Yukon • Alberta • Manitoba • Atlantic Provinces

  10. AIHA – BC-Yukon Section Monthly Meetings – Next Meeting PRESENTER: Waqar Mughal TOPIC: Fraser Health Healthy Workplace Initiative DATE: September 20th TIME: Meeting starts at 6:30 pm with light snacks & refreshments. Speaker from 7:00 – 8:30 pm.

  11. AIHA – BC-Yukon Section Annual General Meeting • Full day event held once per year (in March) • Presentations by numerous speakers • Local section business and elections • Updates on various initiatives held throughout the year • Well attended (>80 attendees) • Numerous vendors

AIHA – BC-Yukon Section Education Sessions • In addition to monthly meetings, the local section hosts other events: • Teleweb seminar group meetings (e.g. Respiratory Protection) • Co-sponsors conferences & seminars • Upcoming conference in Wenatchee, WA (Oct 25-27) • Numerous speakers from BC and Pacific Northwest U.S. • October 25: Short Course: Occupational Health Practitioners and a Global Flu Pandemic • October 26-27: Conference Presentations
