  2. Introduction • The forces of market and technology change have made it necessary and possible to shift to a new medical healthcare environment. As corporate entities are becoming more technologically advance, their expectations and demands of local clinics to embrace automated cost-efficient solutions has become a reality.

  3. Introduction • Due to the shortcomings of an standalone system, clinic group who want their data to be integrated to provide a holistic view of the entire group operations will not be possible. Thus, this poses problems in providing accurate information to both the corporate HR and to establish management control of the satellite clinics. • In view of this problem, OneTree Interactive is pleased to propose a Clinic Patient Management solution known Medibank Enterprise System (MBES) to improve, integrate and streamline the current work processes in the clinic, with it’s clients as well as with it’s associates.

  4. System Overview • MBES is an Internet Application with a web-based front for user access and a middle service layer where all the clinic business rules are componentized and centralized for enhanced security, scalability and ease of maintenance. • MBES’s front-end provides comprehensive Clinic Management / Health Reporting services over the Internet to patients, clinics and corporate clients.

  5. System Architecture • The MBES solution is designed based on distributed n-tier architecture, whereby it is partitioned into logical tiers; Presentation, Business Logic and Data Service.

  6. Presentation Service • This tier encompasses the delivery channels, such as web browser or tablet PC. The channels serve as an interface between the users and the system. • In essence, it contains the Web server that hosts a set of JSP (Java Server Page) services. JSP will render the contents in the native format of the delivery channel. For instance, HTML (HyperText Markup Language) formats for browser.

  7. Business Logic Service • The business logic tier encapsulates the business rules and arbitrates the processing of the system. Basically, it comprises of a farm of javabean components sitting on Tomcat Application Server that house application processes which mimic real world medical/clinical process rules. These processes are represented by JavaBean objects.

  8. Data Service • Data service tier is where application data, user directory, unstructured data such as audit info, logging, records and medical transaction data resides. The format and location of these data are isolated from the presentation and business service and tier.
