  2. NSF Graduate Research Fellowships • Deadlines for interdisciplinary fields in early November • Submissions via Fastlane @ 5:00 CST on due date – DO NOT WAIT UNTIL 5 PM!!! • Required 12pt. Font, 1 inch margin, 2 page limitation • Approximately 1000 new 3-year fellowships awarded annually • Request PIN Number – http://www.fastlane.nsf.gov • Awards made directly to the student • Graduate Research Fellowship URL: https://www.fastlane.nsf.gov/grfp/

Eligibility • Citizenship: U.S. citizen or national or permanent resident alien of the U.S. • Fellowships for graduate study in fields supported by the NSF • Degree Requirements: Must be in early stages of graduate study (typically during senior year of college or prior to or during the first year of graduate school) • Completed no more than 12 months of full time graduate study or part-time study as described • Some exceptions for extenuating circumstances • Field of Study: Fellowships awarded in NSF-Supported Fields of Study

Limitations • $40,500 Annually ($30,000 stipend and $10,500 Cost of Education Allowance) • One-time $1000 International Research Travel Allowance • Awards maximum of three years over five- year period • Limited to one application per student • Approximately 1000 new 3-year fellowships awarded annually

  6. Conditions of Award • Awards are made to the individual • Major changes in course of study require prior approval by NSF • Certifications • Award notices at the end of March 2007 • Recipient has 30 days to accept the award • Annual Activity Reports are required

  7. NSF Doctoral Dissertation Improvement Grants (DDIG) in the Biological Sciences • Submissions via NSF Fastlane by 5 pm proposer’s local time on November 17, 2006 through the Office of Research Services • Submit InfoSheet found at http://research.ou.edu/proposals/infosheet/infosheet.asp • Compliance Issues • Use of Human Subjects • Animal Use and Care • Recombinant DNA • Biosafety • Export Controls

  8. Eligibility • Limited to one proposal per student. The student must be enrolled at a U.S. institution, but need not be a U.S. citizen • Limited to outstanding dissertation proposals with unusual financial requirements (examples) • Limited to candidates for a Ph.D. degree (certification statement from department chairperson, graduate dean or administrative official required) and must be submitted on behalf of the student by the dissertation advisor

  9. Conditions of Award • Requests up to $12K • Standard NSF Award Conditions • Award will be made to Institution • Principal Investigator will be the dissertation advisor on behalf of the student
