  1. Schematics in SmartPlant ElectricalV2009 SP5 Presented on: 02-06-14

  2. Outline • Compatibility Matrix for Version of SPEL • Schematics Overview • What Can Schematics Be Generated For? • Create All Schematic Typicals • Generating Schematic

  3. Consult Intergraph’s Compatibility Matrix for Version of SPEL • Software Prerequisites - • .Net 3.5 SP1 (minimum) • Microsoft Office 2003 SP3, 2007 or 2010 , 32 bit only • MSXML 6.0 • AutoCad version 2006, 2007, or 2008 • MicroStation version J • SmartSketch 06.00.01.08 (2009 SP1)

  4. Schematics Overview

  5. What Can Schematics Be Generated For? • All loads • All converting equipment • All disconnect equipment • Circuits • Buses • Generators • Battery banks • Instruments

  6. Create All Schematic Typicals • Start with the typical that is the busiest • In AutoCad create a SPEL text layer • Populate the drawing with the SPEL &ItemType.Propertytags, no need to worry about which Block they will be assigned to, just yet. • Hint: Properties exposed under the Item Type shown in a Table View are generally available for mapping under that Item Type. • Note: The graphics engine in SPEL does not support Attributed blocks (Example: Borders with embedded properties).

  7. Create All Schematic Typicals

  8. Create All Schematic Typicals &ItemType.Property

  9. Create All Schematic Typicals

  10. Create All Schematic Typicals • Motor

  11. Create All Schematic Typicals • Circuit Breaker

  12. Create All Schematic Typicals • Control Station

  13. Create All Schematic Typicals • Starter

  14. Create All Schematic Typicals • Create Graphic as blocks for the individual item type as a block without the border. Save border separately. When saving border, include all of the Notes and Legend too. • Register the Graphic in Reference Data Explorer/Typical Blocks. Use Motor as the Block Type.

  15. Create All Schematic Typicals • Run SmartSketch or Catalog Manger, open your border and select all. From Side Menu bar, near bottom, select Save as Symbol. • Open SPEL/File/Open/Template – Choose document paper size. Hint: Use Architectural Paper Sizes. • SPEL/Edit/Insert/Symbol. Zoom in on Bottom-Left of Page. Drag Border(symbol) and align with 0.0,0.0 of page. When aligned hit Return. Border will be locked together with paper size for Schematics. Border Instructions

  16. Create All Schematic Typicals • Under Reference Data Explorer/Typical Schematic – Create Typical Schematic by adding blocks and associating with Border/Paper Size Template. Name and Save Typical Schematic.

  17. Generating Schematic • Pick a Motor, make sure all of the Properties you expect to populate on the schematic have data. This includes Item Types (Circuit, Control Station, Cable, Starter, etc……). • Assign the Typical Schematic to your chosen Motor. Select Motor – Right Click – Apply Options – Typical Schematic – Enable Typical Schematic – Choose. • Right Click Motor - Generate Schematic. • Check the Schematic for Labels that didn’t show up.

  18. Generating Schematic • Create additional blocks for the Items that are missing from the schematic. Remember to save the blocks from the original Schematic to preserve their location relative to 0.0,0.0. Hint: Circuit, may have the linkages you need. • SPEL/Save As (AutoCad).
