To stand or not to stand! “Pick a fight”!
We are not in a culture war like the news media so proclaims. No, it is more severe than that, Eph 6:12) For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. We are in a war whose strategy is to shut down truth by removing God from every facet of our culture.
Once this happens, We will see less freedom and more bondage ,that steals kills and destroys. We will see lies and corruption increase. We will see more abuse of children and destruction of our ability to discern good from evil. Good will become evil and evil will become good. Every man will do what is right in his own eyes Judges 21:25. Then we will feel the full weight of this verse: Romans 3:13-18
13) “Their throat is an open tomb; With their tongues they have practiced deceit”; “The poison of asps is under their lips”; 14) “Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness.” 15) “Their feet are swift to shed blood; 16) Destruction and misery are in their ways; 17) And the way of peace they have not known.” 18) “There is no fear of God before their eyes.”
A Letter by Emilie. Hey peeps,so I wrote this paper out of what God has been teaching me this past week. Man, I totally wrote it out of a Godly righteous anger feeling, if you know what I mean! So I hope it makes sense. Wow, just this first week alone, God has been really changing my heart and showing me his awesomeness, the freedom that comes through Him. He has been giving me more and more of a heart to hate what is evil and to cling to what is good.
My thought’s over this past week has been on truth vs deception, justice vs injustice and the power of God! What really is truth and how do we live by the truth? According to scripture Jesus said, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but through Me” (John 14:6). John 8:32 states “and you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." John 1:14 And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.
Ephesians 1:13 In Him, you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation-- having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise. Living in a different country really has given me personally an outside perspective on cultural lies and church lies in my own culture and in the Asian culture that I am currently living in. I see injustice every day here in Cambodia. I drive by brothels at night .
I see street children without shoes and shirts begging for money, just so they can bring it back to the man who is taking advantage of them, who gives housing and food in exchange for their work on the dangerous streets at night. One that is close to our hearts here at Logos is losing one of our Korean students last May over a motto accident. After a dump truck ran him over once, the driver decided to re-run him over to make sure he was dead.
When the cops did track the driver down, the driver paid off the cops and no justice was brought forth. Pray for the students at Logos. God has really used this situation to glorify his name and he is still glorifying his name through it. Please pray for Yo Han’s family. They truly understand the sacrifice God was calling them to when they moved here to Cambodia to serve our amazing Lord.
A lie in Cambodian culture is that whatever you do, it is okay as long as you have the money to pay someone off. This is happening in the court case of the Khmer Rouge. Will justice in Cambodia ever take place over the 4,000,000 people who died because of the Khmer Rouge? Wow, I am glad to know that our God will bring forth justice for all people and let me add that I am very glad that I myself am saved by grace every day!!
I am writing this to challenge you to look at scripture and to know the truth and to live by it. We must recognize any lies that we have let into our minds and might live by and start living by the truth of God. Heed the words of Paul in Colossians 2:8 “See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces of this world rather than on Christ.”
As children of God, we are the body of Christ. God is using us all in different ways to further his kingdom. A big lie of our western culture is living a life to seek self-fulfillment, to be “successful”. What is success? Is it making lots of money, owning a nice vehicle, having a lovely family, being secure and comfortable? Wow, I’m sure that the disciples would not agree on what our western cultures defines as success. We as westerners are given a lot! Let’s us use wisely in God’s eyes what we have! When we act in faith for God, we see his power and we truly live in his promises. Let’s come to a literal everyday dependence on our God, our only true Jehovah
I know beyond the shadow of a doubt that if we truly believed in the truth and lived by the truth, we would have more believers healing people, casting out demons, and moving mountains in the name of Jesus to further his Kingdom,. We would believe Jesus when he says, “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father.” John 14:12
We would take seriously the words in Mark 9, “Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe to stumble, it would be better for him if, with a heavy millstone hung around his neck, he had been cast into the sea.” Wow, the evil of abortion, of sex trafficking, of abuse!!! The more the truth is suppressed; we will see less of what God’s true nature is. We will see less freedom, more captivity, more injustice, more sin.
We must proclaim the truth!!!! We must hate injustice!!! We must free the captives, we must save the children! We must boldly say what is right and wrong according to the word of God. We must help, love, pray for those who persecute us! We must be God's hands and feet. And again our number one thing is to truly love the way God loves because without love we gain nothing!
If we truly love him we will obey his commandments, we would seek him first and love him with all our hearts. We would understand that the joy of the Lord truly is our strength. I am so blessed that our God is a God of compassion, kindness, love, and justice. A God who is always there, who never will leave us, nor forsake us. A God who holds on to His promises. Our God is truly all we need!
So lets’ start re-defining truth in our culture! Let’s start living and believing the truth from the word of God. Let’s start going where God calls us to go (where ever you go be salt and light) and doing what God calls us to do by keeping in step with the Spirit every second (Be Holy!) Let his desires become our desires. Let’s start living by the truth
Let’s stand up against what is wrong because we believe and know of the terrible consequences of allowing these injustices to take place. Let’s do what is right in all situations. Let’s offer our bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God. Let’s not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of our minds. Let’s start living by the power of His truth!
For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad. 2 Corinthians 5:10And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. 1 Corinthians 13:13 I hope this is encouraging! Lets keep praying for the truth to be revealed, for people to be set free! With much love!Emilie
Perhaps I am just peculiar Sometimes I feel like a sojourner Sometimes I seem like a pilgrim 9) But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; 10) who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy.
