Advancing Public Health for Individuals with Spina Bifida: Key Findings and Initiatives

This summary highlights critical discussions from the CDC's 2007 Annual Meeting focused on disability and health, particularly regarding spina bifida. It reviews various evidence-based interventions aimed at promoting wellness, improving emergency preparedness, and fostering livable communities for affected individuals. The meeting also addressed health disparities, emphasizing the need for targeted research on obesity, mental health outcomes, and comprehensive transitional care. Additionally, there is a call for collaboration among professionals to establish best practices and elevate public health roles for youth with spina bifida.
