Welcome to the Lance Armstrong Foundation! • The Lance Armstrong Foundation (LAF) believes that in the battle with cancer, unity is strength, knowledge is power and attitude is everything. • From the moment of diagnosis we provide the practical information and tools cancer survivors need to live strong.

  3. Today, there are more than 10 million people in the United States and more than 25 million people across the globe living with cancer.

  4. How do we help cancer survivors live strong? • We serve our mission through three core program areas: • Advocacy • Public Health(which includes our online resource for cancer survivors) • Research

  5. That’s where youcome in… • Peloton Project members make it possible for the LAF to help people with cancer and their families live strong.

  6. How does the Peloton Project help? • This year, more than 7,000 Peloton Project members will raise funds and awareness in their local communities to support the LAF. • As Lance is racing for his 7th Tour de France win, the Peloton has been challenged to raise $7 million through our 7 for Survivors goal!

  8. New member packet • Includes a welcome letter, information about logo usage, a mouse pad, a DVD from the 2004 Ride for the Roses and a CD with a fundraising kit.

  9. Online events calendar • We can post your events on the online calendar, which is organized by region. • To add events to the calendar, contact the Peloton Project coordinator (peloton@laf.org).

  10. Online Personal Page • Step 1. Create a Personal Page:You’ll be able to create a personal page with your photo and personal story. Donors and interested individuals can view this page to see why you have become a Peloton Project member and why you're devoted to raising funds for the LAF. • Step 2: Send Personal Emails: This function allows you to send personal emails to your donors. The email sent will include a direct link to your personal donation page. • Step 3: Track Every Donation:At this link you'll see the listing of all of your donors and how much they've given. You'll also be able to view your total donations received.

  11. Peloton Mentors • Geographical and fundraising Mentors support and encourage members in their respective regions and local fundraising efforts.

  12. Bi-monthly newsletters • Includes Peloton Project news, financial updates, regional highlights from mentors, information about the LAF and member features and events.

  13. Fundraisingtools • Includes fundraising event guidelines, logo & branding information, letters & forms, event ideas, and communication guidelines.

  14. Ongoing support and advice • Your Peloton Project support team is here to help you with your fundraising activities from start to finish. Email peloton@laf.org at any time for help or advice!

  15. We put the money you raise to work. • Eighty percent of the money you raise supports the LAF’s advocacy, public health and research efforts.

  16. Handling cash/check donations properly • Fill out a sponsorship ticket (you can find it online in the fundraising tools section under letters & forms ). • Obtain a cashier’s check in place of cash. • Make sure your Peloton Project member name and number are on all checks. • Send all regular USPS donations to: Lance Armstrong FoundationPeloton ProjectP.O.   17. Ensuring tax receipts for your donors • To ensure that your donors receive a tax receipt, do not deposit donations into your personal bank account and send the LAF a check. Please get a money order or cashier’s check from your bank.

  18. In-kind donations • We cannot issue a tax receipt to businesses that donate goods or services to your event. • You can publicize their support of your fundraising event on signage, brochures and advertising.

  19. Matching gift programs • Send your company’s matching gift paperwork with the donation checks. • We will return the paperwork to your company. • We will credit the matching gift money to your Peloton Project account when we receive the check from the company. • No pledges will be accepted.

  20. Your Peloton Project account • View your Peloton Project account online by clicking on “Get Involved” & then “Peloton Project” at www.livestrong.org and entering your username and password. • Processing of donations normally takes two to three weeks. • During peak donation times (June through August), processing takes three to four weeks.

  21. Rewarding your efforts • The Ride for the Roses Weekend: October 21-23 in Austin, Texas • Events include a Sunday morning (October 23rd) ride with courses ranging from 6 to 100 miles, as well as a LIVESTRONG™ Village, Peloton Project Appreciation Dinner, LIVESTRONG™ Kids events, the Yellow Jersey Reception and a post-ride party.
