  19. Leaders Embody Godliness (1:4-9) As “stewards of God” (vs. 7) He must be blameless: Not Overbearing (not arrogant or insecure) Not Quick-tempered (not prideful) Not given to drunkenness (not addicted) Not violent (not a bully) Not pursuing dishonest gain (not greedy for money)

  20. Leaders Embody Godliness (1:4-9) Rather, he must be (vs. 8) Hospitable Lover of good (healthy desires) Upright (pure conduct) Holy (cleansed heart) Disciplined –(self-controlled & purposeful) (lover of strangers) Question: How can you grow as a “lover of strangers”?

  23. Standing Against Ungodliness (1:10-16) Recognize Rebellion (vs. 10-11) 6  . . . you nullify the word of God for the sake of your tradition. 7 You hypocrites! Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you: 9  They worship me in vain; their teachings are but rules taught by men.'“ Matthew 15:6-9
