  7. An ordinary task BE HONEST WITH GOD • He knows it anyway • It gives you clarity that He knows the worst about you • It provides a surface which God can touch

  8. An ordinary task BE HONEST WITH GOD BE REAL WITH OTHERS • Most people, being phonies themselves, can spot a phony. • A habit of being real will let Jesus be real with others also • It provides a surface which others can touch

  9. An ordinary task BE HONEST WITH GOD BE REAL WITH OTHERS LET GOD BE GOD • Seriously consider how little you actually understand about God • Seriously consider how unlikely He is to ask you for advice • Seriously consider that His grace makes no sense. He just does what He wants to do.

  10. An ordinary task BE HONEST WITH GOD BE REAL WITH OTHERS LET GOD BE GOD DON’T KEEP SCORE • For starters, we don’t even understand the game. • Even if you win, you lose. • Scorekeeping makes you untouchable.

An ordinary task BE HONEST WITH GOD BE REAL WITH OTHERS LET GOD BE GOD DON’T KEEP SCORE AVOID THERMOMETERS • God’s temperature is always normal • My temperature doesn’t affect God’s temperature • Others’ temperature doesn’t affect God’s temperature • Constant temperature taking just makes everybody sore

  12. An ordinary task BE HONEST WITH GOD BE REAL WITH OTHERS LET GOD BE GOD DON’T KEEP SCORE AVOID THERMOMETERS IN THE PLAY OF YOUR LIFE, PLAY YOU • Nobody else can play your part • You can’t play another’s part • Listen to the director, not the other actors • Play to an audience of one
