Mobile HolstenTour Project Ubiquitous Computing ISNM 2007 Purpose: The aim of the project was to create a concept of ubiquitous computing applied to the Holstentor Museum in Luebeck, in order to offer the visitors an enhanced experience through new media technologies.   4. Mobile HolstenTour Project Ubiquitous Computing ISNM 2007 Concept: -The visitor tour begins with a virtual trip inside the city of Luebeck, displayed on the entrance kiosk. Each virtual place is related to one or many objects existing in the museum. The visitor has the opportunity to choose which are the most interesting items for him and customize his tour. After the selection is completed, the tour is sent to visitor's mobile phone via bluetooth, and the map displayed on the mobile phone will guide him towards the selected objects. Additional information about each museum rooms is provided to the visitor in the moment he enters each room, based on the bluetooth location tracking technology. Mobile HolstenTour Project Ubiquitous Computing ISNM 2007 “ getExhibitsOfInterest :Get the tour selection for the session number provided in the argument. tt The results of this call: <tourSelection> <exhibitID> # </exhibitID> <exhibitID> # </exhibitID> … </tourSelection>” Prototype: 1 Visitor's mobile device is identified via bluetooth by Contextualized Exhibition Services and assign an user ID for each visitors' smart phone. 2. After tour selection done on the kiosk, the information is sent to CES system by clicking on the final send button. The flash application will call CES framework and request the assigned session-id. 3. CES system creates a bluetooth-message which is sent to the users' mobile phone. 4. The server provides the homepage using a (reversed-)ajax function that waits for CES system to send an UPDATE MESSAGE. When receiving the update message the ajax-script will read the message code and will change the homepage which is displayed accordingly. Purpose Concept Design Content Prototype Making-off
