  1. Warm-up (4.2)- Put on your own paper! Write three descriptive phrases that tell about one thing you did over Spring Break.

  2. 1. Read pages 497-499.2. Identify 5 examples of imagery. Make a chart with these examples and an illustration of each.3. Write a short response to the question, “What is the narrator’s tone regarding this scene? Use examples from the story to support your answer.” (This should be 5 sentences!)4. Read the next three chapters (The War Maker, Way of the Words, and Confessions). Explain the significance of each of these titles.

  3. Warm-up (4.3)- On the paper from yesterday! Diagram these two sentences. • Liesel read the exciting book. • They hid Max in the basement.

  4. Using the relationship you’ve been assigned, create… A timeline OR a chart OR a poster that shows… 1. 4 important events involving Liesel and that person 2. One theme statement for that relationship

  5. Warm-up (4.4)- On a new paper! Fill in each blank with a participle. • The ________ children showed the Hitler Youth. • Liesel, ________ , looked for her papa. • Because of the bombing, Liesel had a ________ and ________ face.

  6. Theme! • Meaning, moral, main message • Must apply to… • ANYone • ANYwhere • ANYtime • Could this theme apply to… • A kid • A mother who lived in 1865? • President Obama?

  7. Label each sentence as a theme (T) or not theme (NT). • Rosa and Liesel have a love/hate relationship. • She loves Hans with a personal attachment. • No matter how much you dislike your child, there will always be a place for him/her in your heart.

  8. Trust is a huge part in a relationship. • Not everybody will hurt you. • Love one another.
