  1. Preparing Your Alberta Business Plan for any Entrepreneur Pathway Within each province is a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) focused on attracting immigrants that can help fill vital needs. Most PNPs also offer one or more Entrepreneur Pathways. Alberta is no exception. The Alberta version, the Alberta Immigration Nominee Program (AINP) has three entrepreneur pathway options. A business plan is one of the key components of the application for any entrepreneur pathway in Canada. The three entrepreneur pathways in Alberta are: · International Graduate Entrepreneur Immigration Stream – As the name implies, this entrepreneur pathway is meant for international graduates. If you have graduated from a qualifying post-secondary institution in the country and want to start a new or buy an existing business, you can register your interest to apply. · Foreign Graduate Start-Up Visa Stream – In general, Alberta aims to attract highly educated applicants. They also have this option for graduates of qualifying foreign institutions that want to start a business in the province. · Self-Employed Farmer Stream – Agriculture is big business in Alberta, and they are also focused on attracting farmers who want to start a new or purchase an existing farm. This is only available for experienced farmers who have the existing knowledge to take on such an endeavor.

  2. How to Prepare Your Alberta Business Plan When preparing your Alberta Business Plan, regardless of which entrepreneur pathway you are applying for, you need to take into consideration the main priorities of the program. In order to improve your chances of your success you should include the following: Benefit to the Province – The commonality among each entrepreneur pathway is that they are setup to benefit the province. As such, it should come as no surprise that one of the main focuses of your Alberta business plan should be the direct, specific benefit you and your business will provide. Tying in Experience – In order to qualify for any of these entrepreneur pathways, you will need to precisely tie your relevant prior experience into the Alberta business plan. In each scenario, you must meet specific criteria. You need to make it evident you have prior experience in whatever you are planning to do. You must also show how that experience will tie in to running a successful business in Canada. Write for Immigration Purposes – You’re not creating a business plan for an investor or a loan officer. You need to consider your audience when writing any business plan but that is especially true when writing an Alberta business plan, or one for any other immigration stream. Conclusion The first step before you can create the Alberta Business Plan is to determine which Entrepreneur Pathway you will immigrate under. You must ensure you have the appropriate prior experience to qualify. With that taken into consideration, you must figure out a few things. This includes how you make your experience evident, how you will showcase the benefit your business brings to Canada, and how you can craft your business plan to specifically appeal to immigration officers. If you can master these items, you will be well on your way to a successful immigration case.
