The Growth of Padel in the UK: Clubs, Tournaments, and Future Outlook

In under a decade, the UK has established 21 padel clubs and 44 courts, reflecting a significant rise in participation. The British Padel Tour hosts 6-12 tournaments annually, with player participation increasing by 80.5% since 2013. Team GB achieved notable rankings, coming 3rd in the Junior World Padel Championships in 2015, and 8th overall at the World Championships in 2016. With a growing Hispanic population, demand for padel is expected to rise, leading to the opening of new clubs, including Stoke Park and Liverpool Football Club soon.

  4. BRITISH PADEL TOUR The BPT hosts 6 - 12 tournaments a year across the UK, incl. Scotland and Northern Ireland. The TOUR has been very successful so far as participation has almost doubled since 2013 TOTAL participation increase: 80.5%

  5. WORLD RANKINGSTEAM GB Ranked 3rd at the Junior World Padel Championships, Mexico City, November 2015 Ranked 8th overall and 3rd in Europe at the World Padel Championships in Lisbon, November 2016

  6. FUTURE OUTLOOK Increasing number of Hispanic residents in the UK, which means the demand will continue to grow. More clubs are expected to open shortly: • Stoke Park (2 outdoor courts) • Liverpool Football Club (2 outdoor courts) • The Roehampton Club (2 outdoor courts) • Newlands tennis club (2 courts) • St John’s Hill (3 outdoor courts) • Guernsey (unknown number of courts)
