  2. Welcome Our goals for tonight are - 1. to familiarize you with what your fourth grader is learning and experiencing each day at school. 2. answer any questions you might have concerning our classroom and procedures.

  4. Reading7:50-8:50 • 7:50-8:50 Whole Group Reading Lesson - Phonics - Vocabulary - Comprehension Skills - Strategies • 9:30-10:00 Small Group Instruction

  5. Specials8:50-9:35 • Monday- Computer Lab • Wednesday- Music • Thursday- Art • Every other Tuesday- Guidance

  6. Tier II Reading Instruction9:30-10:00 • Independent Reading/Journal Response • Small Groups • Independent Reading

  7. Reading Assessment/Grading ● Reading Grades - S = Satisfactory - P = Progressing - N = Needs Improvement ● Reading Standards Reading Standards have moved to the College Career Ready Standards (Common Core)

  8. Language 10:00-11:00 • 10:00-10:15 Mini Lesson on writing and conventions • 8:15-8:50 Writing and the writing process

  9. Language Arts Assessment/Grading • Grammar - There are no more grammar grades • Writing Grades - S = Satisfactory - P = Progressing - N = Needs Improvement • Standards - We have moved to the common core standards.

  15. Read chapter book12:45-1:00 • Wonder by RJ Palacio Finish any science.

  16. Math1:00-2:30 • 1:00-1:10 Check Daily Math Review/Ten Minute Math • 1:10-1:40 Whole Group Math Lesson • 1:40-2:00 Independent Practice

  17. Tier II Math Instruction2:00-2:30 • Individual/Partner Activities • Word Problems • Brain Teasers • Math Games • Daily Data • Weekly Skill • Small Groups • Learning Link • Go over Quick Math Review • Levelized Instruction

  18. Word Study • There is no longer a word study grade • Phonics will be tested on Friday Reading Tests

  22. Conduct Calendar • Front of Binder • 3 conduct marks in a week = early morning detention

Clip Chart • Clip Chart DOWN - Everybody begins on Green (Ready to Learn) - Yellow (Think About It)= Warning - Orange(Teacher’s Choice)= relocate/lose lunch seating choice/write a letter explaining how you plan to change behavior. - Red(Parent Contact/ Conduct Mark)=conduct mark/parent contact by email or phone call • Clip Chart UP -Blue(Good Choices)=I caught them doing the right thing or helping a friend. -Purple(Great Job) = 2 stamps or other reward for doing something great. (up to my discretion) - Pink(Super Student)= Automatic coupon or any other form of praise/reward that I decide on that day.
