Changes in the Stock Flow Management Post GST

In the earlier article, we talked about the impact of GST on warehousing. The major advantage of GST on warehousing is that companies will now consolidate the stock at their warehouses. In order to ensure that the delivery and service is not impacted by the consolidation of the warehouses, there is a need for improved demand planning and stock flow management.

  1. Changes in the Stock Flow Management post GST In the earlier article we talked about the impact of GST on warehousing. The major advantage of GST on warehousing is that companies will now consolidate the stock at their warehouses. In order to ensure that the delivery and service is not impacted by consolidation of the warehouses, there is a need for improved demand planning and stock flow management. Companies will face a major challenge in terms of timely delivery of good across wider geography, esp. if the warehouse near high consumption area is closed down. This calls for a focus on route planning as transportation networks and management would eventually turn out to be critical factor for timely service delivery. No doubt, this requires advance planning to build an agile, efficient and stock flow management model. Here is a Brief of What We Propose: Stock Flow Management GST: 1. Market Order Received Late Evening. 2. Consolidated Warehouse will start working in Night Shifts or 24hrs Operations (stocks sorting, packaging & loading). 3. Pre-planning of dispatch requirements in bigger vehicles takes place. 4. Immediate Trans-shipment of stocks received from consolidated warehouse to smaller vehicles to reach to the final distributor, near the consumption point “On the Same Day”. 5. Receipts to be auto-generated for in-transit documents like E-way bills, invoices and consignment notes/lorry through robust technology to save on time and with accuracy.

  2. 6. All the reports of all the above activities would be available on “Real Time” basis 24hrs to the LSP and also to the client. What will Change? 1. Transport Vehicles - More demand of big size and medium size vehicles. Demand of vehicles with RFID tags will increase for immediate tracking. 2. Hassel Free Delivery - Shorter lead time for vehicles & expectation for fast delivery. 3. Demand for Logistics Service Providers - Most of the companies or distributors will start outsourcing their warehousing operations to a logistics service provider. 4. Technology & Automation – LSP use robust technology in warehousing & transportation for automation to decrease complexities.
