  3. Who are we?   4. What do we mean by Child Protection? Child Protection: refers to the activity undertaken to protect specific children who are suffering, or are likely to suffer, significant harm.

  5. What do we mean by Safeguarding? Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children:refers to the process of protecting children from maltreatment, preventing the impairment of children’s health or development, ensuring that children are growing up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care and acting to enable all children to have the best life chances.

  11. What does this mean for me as a parent? Have your staff at home vetted and get references! Encourage curiosity but explain safety rules! Ensure you know who your children are with at all times! Encourage play dates rather than social media! Ensure your children have road safety - wear seat belts too! Enable parental controls on TVs, PCs and digital media sites Have open conversations with your children Listen to your children! Celebrate diversity with your children and talk about respect! Remember your children deserve a childhood (they don't have to be adults yet.) If you have any concerns come and talk to the CP team!

  12. So how do we protect your children ? Our Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy Manual which will be available on our website has a thorough overview of procedures put in place regularly! for you to access, and our CP team monitor this It covers: What happens during school hours / on school grounds How we respond to incidents that occur outside of school Staff screening during recruitment/ safer recruitment Training Curriculum - Staff obligations - Security and Health and Safety ( Buses, campus, security guards etc) - Ongoing monitoring - E safety - Legislation ● ● ● ● - Including Stand alone Policies and Procedures on: - Intimate Care - Health & First Aid Administration - PSHE ( incl Sex and Relationships & Drugs and Alcohol Education) - Health and safety - Anti Bullying - Behaviour Management - Safer Recruitment - Acceptable use of ICT - Protective use of Force

  13. Interpol Checking and clearance All members of staff including external and outside personnel are required to have interpol clearance. This Includes: ● All Staff (teaching, admin and support staff) ● Newly hired staff-are required to provide their police/ interpol clearance from their home countries. ● All Club tutors are required to have an up to date Interpol certification before starting clubs ● Checking and renewing is done once a year for ALL Staff members. ● References are taken up prior to employment from previous employer and at least one additional reference

E – Safety • E-Safety is taught to children at the beginning of each unit in Computing lessons and discussed throughout the unit. • Children use Kiddle to access the internet which filters out inappropriate material. If children need to use Google they are monitored. Computers are regularly checked to ensure children are not able to access inappropriate material. • Teachers follow the Acceptable use of ICT policy - YouTube videos are checked and downloaded by the ICT department, and teachers usage of the internet is monitored.

  15. GDPR • We have a GDPR policy which all staff are required to follow regarding children’s data - we are all aware where things such photos, assessments, enrollment forms etc should be stored. as • The children’s data is protected and not shared with any third parties without the parent’s permission. • Photos are only used for the website and on social media if parents have agreed to this. • Parents are able to request access to their children’s data at any time and we would be able to provide this.

  16. Health and Safety ● We have staff who have up to date first aid and fire warden training. ● Our fire equipment is replaced yearly. ● Our head of maintenance has implemented a termly health and safety walk to check class room furniture and play equipment etc around school.

  17. Trips ( Risk Assessment on Trips) • All trip planning includes site visits and risk assessments. • A member of security and a first aid trained staff member is present on all school trips. • All trips require staff members of both sexes to go. • There are minimum numbers of adults required to take children on all trips to ensure safety. • Children are escorted everywhere, including to toilets which are checked by security staff before hand. • All trip leaders have child protection guidelines to follow.

  18. Intimate Care and First Aid • 8 staff (including all PE/swimming staff) are fully first aid trained. • During all play times there are first aid trained staff in the sick bay to treat any incidents. • Medicines are locked away and administered by first aid trained adults. • Any treatment is logged and communicated with parents/carers. • There are changing logs for any children changed from soiled clothes and protocol for staff to follow.

  19. What if you / we are concerned about a child?
