What is VoiceThread? • VoiceThread is a collaborative multimedia slideshow that allows users to add comments in 5 different ways via text, voice (microphone or telephone), audio, and video (using a webcam). It allows the user to: • Share the VoiceThread through email or posting a link • Embed the VoiceThread on a wiki or blog • Doodle while commenting • Export VoiceThread to your desktop. (available with the upgraded version) • What’s a VoiceThread anyway?

  3. How VoiceThread can be used? •  Digital storytelling • Have students post pictures to tell a story. Peers can comment and give critical feedback to the presentation. • Use pictures to describe concepts and processes

  4. How VoiceThread can be used? • Brainstorm • The class can get together as a whole or in groups and brainstorm ideas for a particular problem • Have asynchronous debates

  5. How VoiceThread can be used? •  Reflection • Share reflections of the course, describe their learning process • Use VoiceThread as a photo journal of the work they have done in class • Summarise key concepts and ideas

  6. How VoiceThread can be used? • Reviews • Have students review book chapters, or books, journals, poems, artwork etc. • Report on an event • Critiquing each others presentations

  7. How VoiceThread can be used? • Introductions • Get students to introduce themselves and post one special thing about themselves • Get students to describe their culture or backgrounds

  8. How VoiceThread can be used? • In an economics course, you can have students describe and present on diagrams and charts. Students can also pose questions about certain concepts and use the annotation tool to explain themselves. • In an arts based course, students can comment on different pictures of buildings and describe the era, or pictures of famous paintings and have students critique the painting.
