Importance of the Suez canal and Egypt • The Suez canal is a highway to India • It connects Asia and Europe without going through Africa • It connects the Mediterranean sea with the Red sea • Egypt has a lot of petroleum, which provides a lot of money and stability to the economy • The Suez canal was also administrated by France and the UK

  3. Egypt • The Nile river was very useful for agriculture because of the flood, because it contained fertilizers. • Because of the floods, the Egyptians built the Aswan’s damp, but as the years came, the damp started to be insufficient, so Egypt needed money to rebuild the damp.

Frances, UK, and Israel planned an invasion to Egypt because of the nationalization of the canal Lester Pearson previewed another war Nasser regain control of Mount Sinai In the 6 days war (Yomkippur), Israel people took control of Mount Sinai and as well as other territories in Arab possession Pearson on behalf of the UNO decided to help by controlling the canal, the Mount Sinai, and the Golan Heights Because of this Because of this 1967-1975 the canal is closed
