  1. eInfrastructure policies 15-16 April 2004, Dublin Next steps and conclusionsBrian CoghlanPatrick AertsKyriakos Baxevanidis

  2. Proposed policy framework roadmap • Interoperable Authentication and Authorisation infrastructures as the basis for seamless sharing of eInfrastructure resources. In order of priority: • endorsement by eIRG of EUGridPMA (Policy Manag. Authority) and TERENA TACAR - concrete first step toward common EU authentication policies • user privacy preservation ... • VO Resource Provisioning & Accounting • Policy enforcement mechanisms

  3. Registry/Repository of European ICT-resources and policies for e-Science EU, National funding to enhance / strengthen structure of eInfrastructure policy initiative International collaboration Creation of Organisational framework (governance, information and training programmes etc) eIRG policy endorsement and recommendations Parallel actions

  4. Some issues to consider next... • A more structured and intensive mechanism for policy endorsement / provision of recommendations by eIRG • Ensure all key actors are involved in next phases (role for studies…) and efforts are well co-ordinated with other relevant initiatives (e.g. GN2, upgrade of NRENs, ...) • A time plan … • Establishment of a MoU based on eIRG recommendations ?

  5. Relevance of initiative to industry/business? Some facts... • Business relationships (e.g. User-Provider, Provider-Provider) more distinct; standards, SLAs, etc play a key role • Integration Grid- and Web-Services - traditional business chains subject to change! • Currently grassroots adoption of Web (and Grid) services – systematic deployment and new business models still due… Needtolearnmoreandunderstand the new business models • Policies on AAA and resource sharing may well provide paradigms for business (e.g. Provider-Provider agreements…) • Need to early expose our work to industry/business!
