  2. Conflict • Is a struggle between two opposing forces. There are two types of conflict. The next slides will break the types down.

  3. External Conflict External conflicthappens on the outside. It is a battle between another character or nature. MAN VS. THE MAN (SOCIETY) MAN VS. NATURE or MAN VS. MAN

  4. Internal Conflict Internal conflict happens inside the character, usually in the mind. The character struggles to make a decision, take action, overcome a feeling, or an addiction. This is called man verses self.

  5. Characterization • Is the act of creating and developing a character. • It is everything that makes a character who he/she is: • Feelings & emotions • Statements/Quotes (what they say) • Actions (including what they wear and eat) • Thoughts/strategies/plans • Strengths & weaknesses • What others say and think about them (true or not)
