  1. DRAFTING and DESIGN TECHNOLOGY This program is available to all students grades 9 through 12.

  2. Year-1 Introduction to Drafting and Design Intermediate Mechanical Design Year-2 Introduction to Architectural Drafting Intermediate Mechanical Design Year-3 3D Solid Modeling-1 3D Solid Modeling-2 Courses Offered All of these courses are 18 weeks in length beginning school year 2010-2011. Courses must be taken in the order shown

  3. Behind every product, building, or process are drawings and models created by someone using the techniques and principles taught in a Drafting and Design course .

  4. Students working with hand drawing tools Students using AutoCad and SolidWorks Classes In Drafting and Design will cover such topics as : Multiview Projection ( drawing various views of machine parts), 3D modeling and Architectural Design and Drafting. You'll not only learn to draw plans on paper. You'll also learn how to use computers. With computer-assisted drafting programs such as AutoCad and SolidWorks, you can make changes and add detail to your plans quickly. Increasingly sophisticated technology allows drafters to create more realistic images that almost seem like three-dimensional models, making it easy to imagine the finished structure or object .

  5. Drafting experts draw plans for much more than just buildings -- they also create plans for machines, airplanes, and construction works such as dams.

  6. The following slides describe in more detail what you will learn in each course

  7. Introduction to Drafting and Design This course teaches the basic usage of hand drawing methods using tools such as lead holders, triangles, protractors and measuring scales. Students will learn how to produce hand sketches, orthographic projection drawings and dimensioning

  8. Intermediate Mechanical Drafting This course teaches students how to produce drawings in AutoCad. Students will also learn how to draw Auxiliary Views of objects, Sectional views, Oblique and Isometric views. Section Drawing of the object below

  9. Introduction to Architectural Drafting This course teaches students how to produce drawings of a one story house. Students will learn how to draw a Floor Plan, Foundation Plan,Exterior Elevations, Typical Wall Section and Schedules.

  10. Intermediate Architectural Drafting This course teaches students builds on the previous Intro to Architectural Course. Students will learn how to draw plans for a two-story house including Framing plans, Electrical, Heating and AC Plans, Stair and Fireplace details, and Interior Elevations.

  11. 3D Solid Modeling-1 This course teaches students how to build objects in three dimension. Students start out building components using Solid Modeling in AutoCad. Students will also learn how to build basic components in a Parametric Modeling software SolidWorks

  12. 3D Solid Modeling-2 This course teaches students how to take the components built in the previous course and turn them into an assembly model. Students also learn how to derive 2D working drawings from the built model. Students also learn how to animate the assembly
