  1. DRAFTING AND COMPUTER-AIDED DESIGN 10

  2. ISOMETRIC DRAWINGS: THIRDLINES

  3. ISOMETRIC DRAWINGS: THIRDLINES The following “Third Lines” exercise is designed to assist you in developing your ability to sketch isometric drawings. This exercise involves finishing an isometric drawing by adding isometric lines parallel to the height, depth and width axes.

  4. ISOMETRIC DRAWINGS:THIRD LINES To complete the isometric drawing shown, the third lines (isometric lines, parallel to the height, depth and width axes) must be drawn in.

  5. ISOMETRIC DRAWINGS: THIRDLINES In these exercises it will be assumed that the boxes being drawn are solid—you need not worry about hidden lines.

  6. ISOMETRIC DRAWINGS: THIRDLINES Remember that the isometric lines you draw must be parallel to one of the three axes. In the following slides, you will view the step-by-step completion of a third lines exercise.

  7. ISOMETRIC DRAWINGS: THIRDLINES

  8. ISOMETRIC DRAWINGS: THIRDLINES Some tips: • Draw the lines lightly (these lines are construction lines), then darken each line (to make the lines drawing lines) when it intersects another line. • Draw each line only once—do not shade.

  9. ISOMETRIC DRAWINGS: THIRDLINES Return to the Sketching and Freehand Drawing Fundamentals web page to print a copy of the third lines exercise.
