Coaches • Ivan Salazar: Quarterbacks Safeties • Jonathan Mikulas: Running Backs Corners • Johnny Hopkins: Receivers Outside Linebackers • Matt Smith: Offensive Line Defensive line • Kirk McBride: Offensive Line Defensive line • Keivon Liburd: Receivers Inside Linebackers All six coaches will help coach both 7th and 8th during the athletic periods and on Thursdays and Fridays.

  3. Forms • 7th Grade: • Physical & Medical History (White Sheet) • UIL Acknowledgement of Rules (Pink Sheet) • Steroid Use Form (Blue Sheet) • RMS Athlete Emergency Form (Green Sheet)

  4. Forms • 8th Grade: • Medical History (White Sheet) • If I have a physical on file from last year, no physical is required. However, I must have the Medical History Form filled out for the new year. If your child had an injury that required medical attention, you will need a new physical to participate. • UIL Acknowledgement of Rules (Pink Sheet) • Steroid Use Form (Blue Sheet) • RMS Athlete Emergency Form (Green Sheet)

Forms • Due Date: ASAP • If a student does not have a physical within the 1st week of school, they will be removed from football and placed into another elective. • A student can not work out until a physical is on file. • If all paperwork is not completed and returned by the first game, that athlete will not compete in the contest.

  6. High Expectations • Goal: To provide an opportunity to enhance a student’s educational experience through competition. • Teamwork, character, work ethic, discipline, competition, and self esteem. • Beyond sports • Complete student

  7. High Expectations • Discipline: Tougher on classroom misbehavior. A ram athlete should not ever be assigned a C-Hall, ISS, or OSS. • Playing time will be lost! • Opportunities for Improvement (OFI) will accompany any such misbehaviors. • Teacher/Coach communication is strong. We know what occurs in the classrooms. • Athletes represent Ram Athletics.

  8. High Expectations • Grades: • We will have a weekly grade check. Teachers will send us a list. • We strongly encourage our athletes to attend tutorials. • Teachers are available before and after school. • Athletes will need to go during non-practice times. • High Expectation: 100% pass rate!!!

  9. Football 2007: TEAM ME • Participation • 8th Grade: 95 currently enrolled, we’re expecting 20-25 more due to growth. • 7th Grade: 78 currently enrolled, we’re expecting 15-20 more due to growth. • 2 Teams • A Team and a B Team

  10. Football 2007: TEAM ME • Feeder System • FISD athletics has a system in place such that 2 middle schools will ultimately feed into one high school. At this time, the majority of our students and athletes will attend LHS. Therefore, we follow their system, organization, and structure of LHS Football. • Offense: one back, no huddle • Defense: 3-4 cover 2

Football 2007: TEAM ME • Practices • Be there. • Be on time. • 8th: With the exception of the first day of school, typical workouts will begin at 7:00 a.m. Doors open at 6:40 a.m. and no sooner. • They will work out until 9:10 a.m. at which time they will be dismissed to shower. • Game day and Post Game day practices will commence at 8:00 a.m. instead of 7:00 a.m.

Football 2007: TEAM ME • Practices • Be there. • Be on time. • 7th: Monday through Wednesday will be morning workouts beginning at 7:00 a.m. Thursday and Friday workouts will be after school from 4:15-5:45 p.m. • Morning workouts: released at 8:30 a.m. for 1st period. They will return for 2nd period and then shower after 2nd period athletics. • Game day and Post Game day practices will not be conducted for the 7th grade. • After school workouts: Athletes will be out of the door by 6:00 p.m. Please make arrangements to pick them up no later than 6:00 p.m. We will have LHS football duties and will need to be gone very soon thereafter.

Football 2007: TEAM ME • Practices • All athletes are expected to be at their assigned practices. • Tutorials, detentions, meetings, etc. need to be taken care of during non-practice times. • If an athlete fails for the 6 weeks, they still need to come to early practices. • We will work with other electives so that they are available for them and for us.

Football 2007: TEAM ME • Games • Every Tuesday night beginning on the 11th of September through the 6th of November. • 2 games: B Team will begin at 5:30 and the A Team game will begin 10 minutes after the completion of the first game. • Posted on our website. • 8th grade will have one away game: McKinney Johnson week 9. • 7th grade will have 2 away games: Sherman week 2 and Faubion week 6. • All coaches will be CDL certified, and we will bus them to and from the games.

  15. Football 2007: TEAM ME • Locker Rooms • Too small for our numbers. Athletes will share. We randomly decide who shares. • No valuables, ever. Keep I-pods, mp3 players, jewelry, etc. at home or in the school locker where it can be locked. • Not responsible for lost/stolen items.

Football 2007: TEAM ME • Equipment • We will provide: all pads, pants, T-shirts, jerseys, shorts. • Your child will need to provide: shoes (non-metal cleats ), socks, athletic supporter or compression short. Also, they will need a small bag, towel, body wash, stick deodorant, and anything else they need for a shower. No spays!!! • If your child has his own locker, a combination lock will be necessary.

  17. Football 2007: TEAM ME • Equipment • They will be issued 2 sets of blues that will be used for 2 years. They need to take care of them and wash them periodically. • The small bag will be used for taking those items home to wash. • From time to time, we will collect their jerseys and wash them. • Only RMS clothing allowed in locker.

  18. Football 2007: TEAM ME • Equipment • They may buy their own mouthpiece. Needs to be a color that can be seen by the officials: gold is best. • Chin Straps: one accompanies the helmet and one will be returned. • No accessories will be provided.

  19. Football 2007: TEAM ME • Game Day Meals • Kim Wouters has agreed to take over the duties of assisting everyone with meals on game days. • No eating will be allowed in the locker rooms. • Please do not drop food off at the school. • Please pack a 2nd lunch.

Football 2007: TEAM ME • Team Organization • TEAM ME!!! • Attempt to include as many as possible. • Unfortunately, there is no guaranteed amount of playing time. • Everyone will have an offensive and defensive position, but may play on one side of the ball more than the other. • May be asked to play a different position.

  21. Football 2007: TEAM ME • Team Organization • 90+ athletes: must make a good impression. • Attendance is crucial. • FB Camp attendance is vital. • Strength and Conditioning camp is essential. • Equipment pick up date is imperative. • Forms are of most importance.

Football 2007: TEAM ME • Camp information • LHS Football camp is July 23rd through July 27th from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. • RMS coaches will be there. • Great opportunity to make a good impression. • Football drills and terminology will be fresh on their minds. • We HIGHLY encourage everyone to attend.

  23. Football 2007: TEAM ME • Camp Information • MS Strength and Conditioning Camp • Geared for MS students at WMS • $100 for 6 weeks worth of strength and conditioning. (2 hours per day, 4 days per week.) • Due May 11th . • Another great opportunity to make a good impression.

Football 2007: TEAM ME • Important Dates • May 11th: MS Strength and Conditioning Camp money due to RMS. • May 12th: Physical Day at CHS. • May 24th: Last day of school: need Physical Packet. • May 26th: Redhawk Rumble • July 23rd -27th: LHS/RMS FB Camp • August 25th: Equipment Pick-up • August 27th: 1st day of school and 1st day of practice.

  25. Football 2007: TEAM ME • Help for Practices • Film is an important learning tool of the game of football. I would like to ask for some volunteers to film our games for us. • Especially important in the later part of the season. We watch film first, then we begin practice.

  26. Football 2007: TEAM ME • Help at Football Games • Announcer and Clock Keeper • 8th Games: 9/18, 9/25, 10/2, 10/16 • 7th Games: 9/11, 10/9, 10/23, 10/30, 11/6 • Eyes and ears. • All Games.

  27. Football 2007: TEAM ME • Help at Home • Embrace the TEAM ME concept. • Encourage your child. • Please have them here on time. • Be sure they have their equipment. • Support your child!
