  2. GIS: Geography Is Simple • GIS will loose its acronym. • People will recognize GIS is about asking geographic questions. • Everyone will start using GIS. • The average consumer will perform multivariate spatial analysis.

  3. Networks in ‘92 • Networks are largely exclusive to big companies. • Wireless networks are rarer still. • Cabletron & Synoptics rule the network. • Wireless is too difficult and expensive to be taken seriously.

  4. GIS ’05 is Networks ‘92 • GIS is largely exclusive to big companies. • Online GIS is rarer still. • ESRI & AutoDesk rule GIS. • Online GIS is too difficult and expensive to be taken seriously.

  5. Networks in ‘05 • Residential networks are common. • Anyone can install a wireless network. • Anyone can install a firewall. • D-Link & NetGear rule the network.

  6. GIS in ‘10 • The internet is filled with accessible data. • The vast majority of GIS is online. • Multivariate spatial analysis is: • Show me all of the homes in low crime neighborhoods with values between $200,000 and $250,000 and middle school ratings of three or five stars.
