  4. Flip Features The USB drive – it “flips” out from the side of the camera!

  5. Using Your Flip Camera -Turning it On- Slide and hold the Power button down until the camera turns on. You will hear a beep and the Flip logo will appear briefly.

  6. Using Your Flip Camera-Recording- To record, simply puss the BIG red button in the middle. Now you’re filming! Push to Record. Push again to stop. First, find your subject (the person or thing you will be recording) and get in position.

  7. Using Your Flip Camera-Playback a Video- Click here for Playback To view the video you just shot ( and to make sure it was recorded well) click the key to play back the video.

  8. Using Your Flip Camera-Delete a bad clip- No problem! Just hit the button with the garbage can on it to delete that video clip! Trash can = delete! Don’t like how that shot came out? Was the lighting bad? Did your subject forget his/her lines?

  9. Tips for Using Your Flip Camera Each time you record and stop, you have a uniquevideo. That means your PSA needs to be shot all at once, nonstop!

  10. Tips for Using Your Flip Camera Having trouble holding the camera steady? Put your elbows on the desk or your knees when filming!

  11. Tips for Using Your Flip Camera Good Bad The more you zoom in, the more the quality of the image decreases. Move closer to your subject before you zoom.

  12. Tips for Using Your Flip Camera Don’t cover it with your finger! The closer you are, the better it will record sound! The sound (audio) recorder isn’t very powerful, so you need to be close to your subject if you want to record them talking or you want to pick up important noises.

Pair up with a partner and check out a camera from me Two roles: “The Speaker” and the “Filmer” (you will each be both) Due to the noise issue of having 15+ students speaking at once while filming, during practice some of you will be allowed to move outside, taking two chairs with you

  15. Flip the Script! The Filmer: When you are ready to begin filming, count aloud to Speaker “1, 2, 3 action” and then press record button. Speaker should wait 2 seconds before starting.

  16. Flip the Script! Speaker: Speak slowly, breathe, look into camera. Try to avoid moving around in your chair If you make a mistake, keep going! You have multiple practice tries. Act like a news anchor on tv!

  17. Flip the Script! Note that these are only practice and will not count for a grade and will not be saved after today! Other classes will be using them so all videos are deleted at the end of the class period to make room for next period.
