  2. Preterite and Imperfect • We often use the preterite and the imperfect together. • The imperfect may be used to put an action in the context of what time it was or what the weather was like.

  4. Preterite and Imperfect • Sometimes we use the preterite and imperfect tense to contrast a physical, mental, or emotional state with an action.
