  1. “A Fervent Heart” “Oh for a heart to worship and serve the Lord fervently!”

  2. My Soul Pants Psalm 42:1-2 (NIV) For the director of music. A maskil of the Sons of Korah. As the deer pants for streams of water[1], so my soul pants for you, O God. [2] My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God? [1] Authorized Version have been able to make but little of it, rendering it by seven different words, most frequently by “river,” which it cannot possibly mean. The word comes from “Aphak, restrained,” or “forced,” and this is the main idea of an aqueduct, which is a structure formed for the purpose of constraining or forcing a stream of water to flow in a desired direction.

  3. The House of God Psalm 42:4 (NIV) These things I remember as I pour out my soul: how I used to go with the multitude, leading the procession to the house of God, with shouts of joy and thanksgiving among the festive throng.

  4. The Place Where You Dwell Psalm 43:2-4 (NIV) You are God my stronghold. Why have you rejected me? Why must I go about mourning, oppressed by the enemy? [3] Send forth your light and your truth, let them guide me; let them bring me to your holy mountain, to the place where you dwell. [4] Then will I go to the altar of God, to God, my joy and my delight. I will praise you with the harp, O God, my God.

  5. The Assembly Hebrews 10:23-25 (NIV) Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. [24] And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. [25] Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another--and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

  6. We Assemble to: • Build and encourage one another through our giftings, knowledge, and experience. • Develop relationships that induce us to godliness. • Create an atmosphere where example bolsters the teaching of the word. • Develop character, discipline, and commitment. • Worship God together despite what is transpiring in our lives. • Receive guidance from the Spirit of God. • Increase the probability of receiving all that God has for us.

  7. Satan wants • church to be hum drum, irrelevant, boring. • inconvenient, the source of your sorrows, the obstacle to your desires, an unnecessary obligation. • a waste of your time. If he succeeds in his endeavor, the result will be inconsistency, mediocrity, disengagement from ministry, and ultimately your eternal soul. His ultimate goal is to get you to live in rebellion to God’s revealed word because it ensures the payment of your soul to him in full.

  8. If You Want to Prosper • Be fervent towards God and His commandments, and you will prosper!
