GEORGIA PORTS AUTHORITY: Environmental Stewardship Green Equipment • Electrification of 21of 23 Container Cranes = Conservation of 1.7 million gallons of diesel fuel per year • Conversion of yard cranes & other equipment to ultra-low sulfur diesel (ULSD) • The result… GPA anticipates the purchase of 2.5 million gallons of ULSD this year GPA Sustainability Initiatives: “Ship-to-Shore Crane Electrification” • The GPA’s four newest “Super Post-Panamax” cranes alone will eliminate the use of more than 400,000 gallons of diesel fuel during their first year of operation • 12 newest cranes generate approx. 30% of their own energy via gravity & kinetic energy
GEORGIA PORTS AUTHORITY: Environmental Stewardship GPA Sustainability Initiatives: “Recycling & Air Emissions Reductions” Use of Reuse Materials: Nearly 30% or 24 acres of the CB-2 refurbishment project utilized recycled material. That translates into 12,200 tons of materials or 500 loaded dump trucks Refrigerated Container Racks: 34 electric reefer racks containing 816 slots have been installed. The new racks will reduce the use of 600,000 gallons of diesel fuel annually. 14 diesel-powered generators have been taken off-line Refrigerated Wash Pad Area:Consolidates cleaning of refrigerated containers into designated area. Run-off water is collected and sent to a waste water treatment facility
