  2. What is Hoarding • Failing to discard a large amount or number of items that have little to no value • Severe cluttering of person’s home; no longer able to function as a viable living space

  3. Perfectionism • If cannot do it right, will not do it at all • Afraid • May accidentally throw away • Ways of Use • All types of ways to use, or as a gift, therefore keep item • Attachment • Emotional feeling is intense and excessive WHY Do people hoard?

  9. Taboo • Seen as weird and abnormal • Realization of Relation • They are not alone; Others “suffer” with same “illness” • Isolation • No social life Sociology The study of human social life, groups, and societies and how these affect individuals.

  15. Question 1 • How has society’s views on hoarding changed overtime? Considering that in the earlier years, individuals were seen as “pack rats”, but are now seen as a threat to society? Was it a hidden issue?

  16. Question 2 • How has the media negatively or positively impacted hoarding? Have our minds been altered to believe things said about hoarding?
