  3. Chapter 7 - Purpose • Purpose of implementing the plan: this stuff doesn’t happen by itself. The real work comes in making change happen. • Purpose of Chapter 7: describe how to continuously engage installation leadership and players to execute the plan; and present options for resourcing the plan. Integrate Management Systems • The Army Performance Improvement Criteria (APIC) is IMA’s garrison management system • Currently voluntary; soon to be mandatory • First step is to create a strategic plan • http://www.hqda.army.mil/leadingchange/APIC/ • The ISO 14001 Environmental Management System is also required for Army installations • Full conformance by FY09 • There are remarkable similarities between APIC and ISO 14001 • Complete integration of the EMS into the larger APIC garrison management system offers many advantages
