  5. Challenges • Enrollment (down in both undergraduate and graduate) Approximately ½ of enrollments in 2008. • Resources/New Hires • Engaging Alumni • Competition • Increasing Diverse Experiences for Students • Accountability • Maximizing use of faculty resources

What’s New? • Minor in Secondary Education • New Faculty Members, Ann Hayslip, in Elementary Education, and Autumn Dodge, in Literacy • New Graduate Assistants • New exams started this past year (ALST, EAS, edTPA) • DASA Workshops Starting this fall • Health and Human Performance Laboratory • Alumni Advisory Committee

  7. Ongoing Projects • Ed. D. in Leadership and Administration • Wrote the self study • Advisory Committee had 2 meetings • Had visiting team • Charter Change and Master Plan Amendment approved by Board • Submitted full proposal with the self-study, the visiting team’s report, responses to it and a variety of other data. • Next there may be a full team visit and the State canvass about the program before full approval. • Currently stalled in NYSED.

Ongoing Projects • NCATE 2015 • SPA Update • Moving to CAEP • Self-Study Preparation • Middle States 2014 • Self-Study Year • Committees Formed • Self-Study will be drafted Spring 2014 • Team visit Fall 2014 • Revising Faculty Evaluation Rubrics • School of Education “magazine” • St. Michael’s Indian School Diverse Placements (2 students took jobs there for this coming year)

What’s Next? • New projects that we need to explore or are exploring: • Middle level education • Creating professional development courses • Moving toward online portions to all programs • Online master’s degree in advanced teaching (?) • Revising literacy program with B-12 option • Condensing curriculum to produce efficiencies • More diverse experiences for our students
