  1. Front Cover Photo Shoot • The camera angle of these photos is a medium shot. It’s a medium shot because the artist is posing from the waist up in all the photos. The mise en scenè for these photos starts off with the setting being in a photo shoot studio, this was needed to have full control of the variables such as lighting and background. This relates to my target audience because ones that are into hip hop magazines will be used to seeing plane backgrounds so the artist stands out, to a point that it’s known as a professional thing to do in the music magazine market, therefore if I don’t do the same my target audience may not take my magazine seriously, which is why the background is plain. The lighting was mostly emphasized on the face of the artist, this was done because the chosen photo for my front cover will be zoomed into and the face will take up a lot of the magazine, therefore it needs to be immaculate in terms of quality in order to look at a professional level. This relates to my target audience because people into hip hop magazines will be used to high quality photos of artist on the front cover, therefore my magazine needs to do the same or they won’t get noticed. The costume was a rappers stereotypical attire, consisting of black on black clothing with gold jewelry, the character is looking very serious and self confident. This relates to my target audience because people into the hip hop genre will be looking out for artist such as this one, ones that that have “swag” which basically means one with a good dress sense and this is how my magazine is looking like. I intend to use the photo I choose on the front cover of my magazine.

  2. Contents Page Photo Shoot The camera angle of these photos is a medium shot. It’s a medium shot because the artist is posing from the waist up in all the photos. The mise en scenè for this photo starts off with the setting being in a photo taking studio, this again was needed to have full control of the variables such as lighting and background. This relates to my target audience again because ones that are into hip hop magazines will be used to seeing plane backgrounds so the artist stands out, to a point that it’s known as a professional thing to do in the music magazine market, therefore if I don’t do the same my target audience may not take my magazine seriously, which is why the background is plain. The lighting being mostly emphasized on the face and arms of the artist, while at the same time being evenly distributed to the hole picture due to containing the knowledge that the full photo was going to be used on the contents page. The costume being a again rappers stereotypical attire, consisting of black on black clothing, the character is looking very serious and self confident, this costume has a twist though as the artist has a skateboard prop, this relates to my target audience as my artist is a counter stereotypical artist and therefore stands out from other magazines and simultaneously making it stand out to my target audience. I intend to use the photo I choose on the contents page of my magazine. • Analysis of photo including camera angle and mise en scene and how this relates to target audience, music genre chosen and your magazinestyle. • Are they edited in any way? How? Why? • Where are you intending on using this photo? How? Why?

  3. Double Page Photo Shoot The camera angle of these photos is a long shot. It’s a long shot because the artist is posing with his entire body, from his feet to his head in all the photos. The mise en scenè for this photo starts off with the setting being in a photo taking studio, this for a third time was needed to have full control of the variables such as lighting and background. This again relates to my target audience because ones that are into hip hop magazines will be used to seeing plane backgrounds so the artist stands out, to a point that it’s known as a professional thing to do in the music magazine market, therefore if I don’t do the same my target audience may not take my magazine seriously, which is why the background is plain. The lighting is equally distributed to the hole picture as the photo is a long shot and consequentially means the lighting needs to be on the hole photo to look professional. The costume this time is a bit more casual, while still making damon look like a thug in a parallel sought of way, consisting of a full black adidas tracksuit, the character is looking more laid back in these photos, while simultaneously looking serious of course as your learn from his interview that he’s quite a serious guy. This relates to my target audience as my artist is still a stereotypical rapper as other rappers such as snoop dog still wear tracksuits, it’s not as common as other outfits though which means it still therefore stands out from other rappers and then also other magazines which again makes it stand out to my target audience. I intend to use all the photos in my double page spread.
