School location and history • The University of Iowa was founded on Febuary 25, 1847. • The University of Iowa is a major national research university located on a 1900-acre campus in Iowa city. • Iowa university is an urban area in the midwest. • The campus is located within a couple of miles from the city. • There are 21,999 students and 48% are males and 52% are females.

Academic structure • Iowa uses a semester system • 2-9 students: 11% of classes • 10-19 students: 41% of classes • 20-29 students: 27% of classes • 30-39 students: 7% of classes • 40-49 students: 4% of classes • 50-59 students: 6% of classes • Over 100 students: 4% of classes • Iowa is known for their Business/marketing, Social sciences, Communication/journalism, Psychology, Liberal arts/general studies.

  4. Average Admission Scores • Average GPA 3.62 • SAT Math: 550-690 • SAT Critical Reading: 470-630 • SAT Writing: 490-610 • ACT Composite: 22-28 range

Campus Environment and Activities and Sports offered • The activities and clubs are choral groups, concert band, dance, drama theatre, jazz band, literary magazine, marching band, music ensembles, music theatre, opera, radio station, student government, student newspaper, student film society, symphony orchestra, television station, etc. • Intramural sports include badminton, basketball, bowling, football, golf, racquetball, soccer, softball, table tennis, tennis, track and field, ultimate Frisbee, volleyball, wrestling. • Women club sports include lacrosse, rugby, sailing, table tennis, ultimate Frisbee. • Men's club sports include crew, ice hockey, lacrosse, rugby, sailing, soccer, table tennis, ultimate Frisbee, volleyball.

Greek Lifeand housing and dorm arrangements • 15% percent of women participate in sororities. • 11% of men participate in fraternities. • Iowa offers housing to all students but freshmen are not guaranteed housing. • Types of housing Coed dorms, married student apartments, single student apartments, disabled student housing, fraternity/sorority housing.

Surrounding Community • During the winter at Iowa, students can expect low temperatures and snowy day. • During the summer students can expect hot-humid days. • University of Iowa is in a small city. • There are no professional sports teams nearby. • The university of Iowa expects students to be mature.

  9. Fun Facts • Students at Iowa say that they take pride in being a Hawkeye and that for being a campus in a small city there is a lot to do. It’s also said that Iowa university is a very unified community and that the size of the campus is perfect considering the amount of underclassmen students. They also say it’s very easy to meet new people and make friends. The only thing people think that needs some changing are some of the faculties.
