  10. Standards The Center for Houston’s Future has initially adopted two standards to evaluate whether or not progress is being made in providing parks and trails to the residents of the study area.

Standards • Park Acres per 1000 residents The Recreation, Park and Open Space Standards and Guidelines, published by the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) provide park space standards widely adopted by cities across the country. NRPA recommends a park range from 11 to 20 acres per thousand residents.
