What happens when we don’t report problems/ incidents • One of the Futura Store employees, Mary has been overcome by heat when a blown fuse stops the ceiling fns in the storeroom. There has been no report of a situation both before or after the event. • What is the responsibility of the follow:
Safia and Steve (workmates) • John , the Store Manager • Mary herself • Identify other people who might be affected by this situation.
Reporting problems and incidents • Why? • Who to? In event of an accident inform supervisor • Who investigates -OHS Rep and OHS committee, supervisor • What information to report? • What else?-Fill out appropriate forms- get hazards fixed • Investigate accident
Customer injured - procedure • Call for rostered first aider • Comfort customer • Get customer’s details what? • Do not admit liability • Pass on details
Workers compensation • Covers all workers • Fill in report of injury form • What’s covered- leave, medical bills, legal bills, lump sum, changes to workstation, retraining • Injury while traveling to work- covered • Rehabilitation and return to work- early and safe return to normal duties
Pass on details(regardless of the seriousness) to Manager-it may come back to bite you • What details would you need to record? • Name of officer reporting • Name of customer/ worker injured • Description of accident • Date/time • Location • How you found out about the accident • Signatures
