  1. User Guide KI 734x Series Two way Loss & ORL Tester www.kingfisher.com.au

  2. Two-way Loss Tester • The fastest and easiest two-way loss tester • Real time display of bi-directional average multi- link loss on both instruments • 3 year warranty & calibration cycle • No warm up required • 360 hours battery life & interchangeable connectors • 1200 storage space for dual  test results

  3. Fast & Easy For Bi-directional Testing Step 1: Set references Step 2: Press the “Auto test” button Real time bi-directional average multi- link loss display on both instruments

  4. Step 1 - Set Reference At Both Ends Test lead Two-way port Meter port An optic fiber link End B End A

  5. Set Reference Key Press Sequence 1310nm Source off Source Return Loss Power Meter Auto test - 52.73dBm Pushing “AUTOTEST” Alternates between 1310 and 1550 nm if 1310 & 1550 nm lasers are installed - + 1310nm Source on Auto test Menu Abs / Rel Hold - 4.01dBm -4.00dBm Pushing “Abs / Rel” - + 1310nm Source on Auto test Menu Set Ref Abs / Rel Hold Holding “Set Ref” for 3 seconds to set reference for multi- - 0.00dB R -4.00dBm Pushing “Menu” to be back to the turn-on display 1310nm Source off Source Return Loss Power Meter Auto test - 52.73dBm

  6. Step 2 - Measure Insertion And Return Loss An optic fiber link End B End A 1310nm Source off Source Return Loss Power Meter Auto test - 52.73dBm Pushing “Auto test” at one End.

  7. Measure Insertion And Return Loss - Continue Alternates between 1310 and 1550 if 1310 & 1550 nm lasers are installed - + 1310nm Source on Auto test Menu Hold - 34.01 A ◄► B dB -4.00dBm Displays the average bi-directional link loss of multi- - + Press ‘Menu’ Press ‘Select’ Displays Loss/Optical Power from A-to-B (‘A ►B’) Displays Loss/Optical Power from B-to-A (‘A◄ B’) Displays ORL at A end (‘A ►’) - + 1310nm Source on Auto test Menu Hold - 54.17 Displays ORL at B end (‘◄ B’) A ◄ B dB RL -4.00dBm Back to the average bi-directional link loss display Pushing “STORE” to store average Loss, A-to-B Loss, B-to-A Loss, ORL at end A, ORL at end B of multi- STORE Testing is completed for the link.

  8. Communication During Testing End A End B An optic fiber link - + - + 1310nm Source on Auto test Menu Hold Source on Auto test Menu Hold - 34.01 - 34.01 A ◄► B dB A ◄► B dB -4.00dBm -4.00dBm After completing one link test, pushing “Hold” will freeze the display on both units and the unit at End B beeps twice. This tells End B that a test has been completed. Then, End B connects to the next link and pushes “Hold”. This releases the display on both units and the unit at End A beeps once. This tells End A that he is ready for the next test. Increases the productivity in high fiber-count systems.

  9. Set Ref In Autotest - + Displays average link loss for multi-. Hold “Set Ref” for 3 seconds will set references on both units for multi-. 1310nm Source on Auto test Menu Set Ref Hold - 34.01 A ◄►B dB

  10. View Ref Value In Autotest Displays the average bi-directional link loss of multi- Press ‘Select’ Press ‘Menu’ Displays Loss/Optical Power from A-to-B (‘A ►B’) Displays Loss/Optical Power from B-to-A (‘A◄ B’) Displays ORL at A end (‘A ►’) Displays ORL at B end (‘◄ B’) Back to the average bi-directional link loss display - + Displays link loss and reference value for multi- for A-to-B. 1310nm Source on Auto test Menu Abs / Rel Hold - 34.01 A ►B dB R -8.20dBm Unit A reference value - + Displays link loss and reference value for multi- for B-to-A. 1310nm Source on Auto test Menu Abs / Rel Hold - 32.24 A ◄ B dB R -7.80dBm Unit B reference value - +
