  2. WHAT IS JOHN R MOTT CENTRE? John Raleigh Mott, missionary par excellence, Christian ambassador of repute and Nobel Laureate is the founding father of Student Christian Movement world-wide. In a continuing effort to see that the vision of getting Christian converts, providing discipleship to students and sending them forth (which has continued for more than 70years), we have been called to build unto the Lord.   3. WHAT IS JOHN R MOTT CENTRE? The features of the John R Mott Center include: • A Guest House which contains: • 191 Rooms • 11 Halls • 2 Suites • 2 Car Parks. • A Multi-Purpose Hall. • It covers an area of 2 acres (16 plots). • Location: Umuchoko, Chokota Etche LGA, Greater Port Harcourt area, Rivers State.   4. WHAT IS JOHN R MOTT CENTRE? • But the phase of the development we’re embarking on would only cover the GUEST HOUSE and 1 CAR PARK in preparation for the biennial conference come April 2014. Reaching and building Godly Youth

  9. WHY THE DEVELOPMENT OF JOHN R MOTT CENTRE IS IMPORTANT • In years gone by, a lot of money has been spent on securing venues and accommodation. And many times they don’t adequately meet our need. • Also, considering the age and status of the movement, it is about time we had our own properties. • John R Mott Centre is a huge investment for the movement when fully developed. This will serve as a good source of income, especially with meeting immediate needs of the movement (e.g. staff salary). • For the sake of posterity, we should leave a landmark. WHY THE DEVELOPMENT OF JOHN R MOTT CENTRE IS IMPORTANT To this end, at the Senior Friends Conference held at Sasun Hotel, Port Harcourt, it was unanimously agreed that work should commence on the site. The mandate was given to the current executives to develop the centre and make it ready for the biennial conference which will take place April 2014. Reaching and building Godly Youth

THE JOURNEY SO FAR As of today, we have done the following: • Completed the survey plan. • The building drawings have been completed. • Set up the building committee. • The fencing has been completed to five coaches round, except the front to give room for vehicular movement. • The BOQ has been prepared (available on request). • The land has been inspected by Local authorities (Town Planning of Greater Port Harcourt Area).   16. YOU HAVE A PART TO PLAY It is OUR responsibility to see to the building of our Father’s house. Each of us has something to give to His work, you can give what you have. Biblical examples of people who gave what they had; The widow of Zarephath gave her last meal (1Kings 17:9-15) Gideon gave his strength (Judges 6:12-14) Peter gave his boat (Matt 5:2-7) That lad gave his lunch, five loaves of bread and two fishes.   17. YOU HAVE A PART TO PLAY For the development of the John R Mott center, we will be needing about N435 million. We have broken down the financial work into groups: • GROUP A: 200 SCMers who will give us N1 million • GROUP B: 200 SCMers who will give us N500,000 • GROUP C: 200 SCMers who will give us N250,000 • GROUP D: 850 SCMers who will give us N100,000 It should be noted that financial support is NOT limited to only these 4 groups.   18. YOU HAVE A PART TO PLAY • Material contributions are equally welcomed. Some one gave the land, someone is going to supply electricity to the location. You can always give what you have. Reaching and building Godly Youth
