ATRIUM NORTH CAROLINA & NORANDEX OVERVIEW The History of Atrium North Carolina A World-Class Manufacturer of Premium Vinyl Windows and Sliding Patio Doors 1946: Smith Family founds Aluminum Products Company: Winston-Salem, N.C. - Manufacturers of aluminum building products only 1985: John Ellison buys Aluminum Products Companies for $7 million - Rural Hall, N.C. - $6 million in sales - One line of mechanically fastened vinyl windows (10/week) 1986: John Ellison sells Textile Division of the Ellison Company 1987 - 2002: Double digit growth in vinyl windows 1991: APC’s first New Construction vinyl window 1995: Relocates from Rural Hall to Welcome N.C. - Extrusion (3) plant and Fabrication plant (280,000 sq. ft.) - No more aluminum product – all vinyl! 1997: APC Building Products name changes to Ellison Windows and Doors and Ellison Brand is launched 1997: Doubles size of window fabrication plant 2000: Ellison sells business to Atrium Companies, Inc. 2002: Ellison Windows and Doors changes name to Atrium Windows and Doors 2003: Atrium Companies, Inc. sold to Kenner and Company (New York based building products investment group) 2010: Golden Gate Capital becomes owner of Atrium Companies, Inc.
