Design an Ecoroof Exercise 4 Projects to Design/Build: • Design a Buildup for the area marked on the following plans • Pay attention to Microclimates that may appear in that area. • Stay within the Budget and Weight Bearing Constraints (the Soil Weighs 3.75 pounds per sq. foot, per inch of depth) • You will need to refer to the printed Presentation. There should be at least 1 per group. • Write Down reasons for your choices. • Write down a plant list, or specify sedums or semps for certain areas. • Bonus Question: Calculate the Materials Costs of the System on a per sq. ft basis. • Hawthorne Hostel • Roy / Webb Garage • Fox Chase Rainwater Harvesting Property • City Hall Bike Parking Structure

  2. Hawthorne Hostel • Notes: • 20 lbs per sq. ft allocated for ecoroof • House faces South • 3/12 pitch slope • Extremely low budget of just $7.00 per ft. sq, (for materials)

  3. Hawthorne Hostel

  4. Roy / Webb Garage Roof • Notes: • 20 lbs per sq. ft allocated for ecoroof • A large Maple tree shades the garage roof • Garage on East Side of House • Budget $7.00 to $8.00 per sq. ft (for materials)

  5. Fox Chase Rainwater Harvesting Project Notes: 15 lbs per sq. ft allocated for ecoroof Roof Slope 4/12 facing North Budget of $12.00 per ft. sq (for materials) Roof Slopes North, with full sun exposure

  6. City Hall Bike Parking Structure • Notes: • 15 lbs per sq. ft allocated for ecoroof • Roof Slope 3/12 • Located on West Side of City Hall, and gable roof sloped to East and West. • Potential Vandalism Issues, as roof is only about 8’ high and there is a 3’ wall next to it for climbing up. • It is Very Important that this roof looks good. Annuals for initial splash are OK for first year. • Native Species Preferred • Budget of $10 per sq ft (for materials)
