  3. 1940 “With a colleague, Robert Barth, Laubeproduced a 35-minute “smell-o-drama” movie, "Mein Traum" — in English, "My Dream" — for the 1940 World’s Fair in New York. *2b The projectionist operated a control board with dials that allowed him to release 32 different odors, including roses, coconut, tar, hay and peaches.”*.*2 Courtesy of the George C. Marshall Foundation, Lexington, Virginia

  4. 1960 “Scent of Mystery” *3movie, actually starring the late Elizabeth Taylor, incorporated various scents such as the smell of a “pipe”.* 1  The producer, Mike Todd, Jr. said "I hope it's the kind of picture they call a scentsation” *1However, this idea of using “”Smell-o-Vision”*4 never really took off” .*4.

  8. 2004 *9b Linda Buck and Dr. Richard Axel awarded Nobel Peace Prize for “groundbreaking paper that shed light on olfactory receptors and how the brain interprets smell. *9 “Odor Barcode” …”the combined diversity of the receptors themselves and the molecular features they capture generate a huge breadth of signals fed into the brain which form a unique odour "fingerprint" by which mammalian brains recognise at least 10,000 individual odour molecules…."It gave rise to the combinatorial odour code, a bit like a supermarket barcode unique to each item,”. *9 This could pave the way for digital scents.
