Uniquely, it is the only country in the continent where Portuguese is spoken, a legacy of its discovery in 1500.

Favelas They are the slums of Brazil. the favelas were put up by the brazillian government in the late 1800’s to separate the rich from the poor Shockingly the average life expectancy is only 69! Brazil is mostly a Christian country

Fun facts • Brazil is the largest country in South America. • The name Brazil comes from a tree named brazilwood. • It is called Brasil in Portuguese, the official language spoken in Brazil. • Brazil is the only country in South America that speaks Portuguese. • Portugal claimed the land of Brazil in the year 1500.
