  2. (ESS) for New Hire Insurance Benefits Enrollment 2012 – Only 23% of State New Hires used ESS to enroll in Health Insurance Benefits. March 2013 – ESS at New Hire LEAN event. ESS use increased to 38%. Key takeaway: entering the new hire transaction BEFORE the hire date was a key component to being able to use ESS at new hire. June 2013 – Overall, 65% of newly hired State employees were entered into Edison after their start dates.

(ESS) for New Hire Insurance Benefits Enrollment • February 2014 through May 2014 - Mini LEAN events (A-3’s) with 14 agencies. • Using ESS at New Hire – 40% • Employees entered into Edison AFTER their hire date – 45% • Event takeaways: • Working with business owners (hiring managers) to follow standard new hire processes. • Educating HR teams and hiring managers about DOHR process – current state. • Understanding the online tools and resources available to help HR teams prepare and inform the New Hire employee (welcome letter). • Recommend having Computers available for the new hire to enroll in benefits during orientation (kiosk or “lab” environment).

(ESS) for New Hire Insurance Benefits Enrollment • July 2014 • Using ESS at New Hire – 62% (2013 – 40%) • Employee entered into Edison AFTER their hire date – 26% (2013- 45%) • 10 out of 14 used ESS more after the A-3 Event • 10 out of 14 had an increase of new hires entered into Edison BEFORE their hire date. • Best Practices: • Streamlining the new hire process across the entire agency. • A renewed focus on using ESS at New Hire by the HR leadership (Mandatory within the agency). • Scheduling New Hire Orientation on Day 2
