  2. History • Dick Stack, the owner was only 18 years old and lived in Binghamton, New York. • He was a salesman at a small Army and Navy store. • He had the idea of opening a store for sporting goods which his boss objected to.

  3. Additional History • Dick’s grandmother gave him $300 dollars to open up his store. • It opened in the year 1948. • It started out as a bait and tackle shop. • By 1958, he expanded his store to other sporting goods.
