  5. Access to Health Care What can influence the cost spent on health care in a country? A countries GDP– Australia spends 10% of its income on health care. If a country has a small GDP, then 10% to health may not make much of a difference on the health of its people. War and Conflict – as money is spent on defence weapons

  7. Access to Health Care • Medicare – Australia’s universal health care insurance. Allows all Australians ACCESS TO HEALTH CARE which is SUBSIDISED by the government • Medicare – will pay for all or some of the fees relating to many essential health care services.

Access to Health Care • Access to immunisation is an example of health care that contributes to significant difference between Australia and many developing countries. • Without immunisation disease spread much faster and obviously then will affect more people. – so what inturn will this mean for HUMAN DEVELOPMENT?

  10. Access to Health Care • Access to health care during pregnancy and childbirth is crucial for the health of mothers and children. There are many problems that can arise during this period, and a skilled health care workers can significantly decrease the rates of maternal and infant mortality rates. • According to the WHO more than half a million women die each year from preventable complications during pregnancy or childbirth – and most of these deaths occur in developing countries.
